Who is Svaha?
Jaya Iyer | Founder
is originally from India, however she was inspired live the American Dream. She moved to the US from India carrying nothing but a backpack of her belongings and along with a mountain of ambition. She worked hard to obtain a Ph.D. in Fashion Merchandising from Iowa State University. She has taught Fashion buying and wrote a textbook on Fashion in Emerging Markets which is widely used in universities. She also worked in apparel manufacturing and exporting. She is the former apparel buyer for the cult-favorite store, ThinkGeek.
Thanks to inspiration from her daughter, Jaya founded Svaha and became determined to change the landscape of apparel. Jaya is the proud mother of 2 young children and enjoys nurturing her children’s interests through fashion, adventures, science, and social responsibility. She is a world traveler and an artist.
Eva Everett | Co-Founder
grew up in Richmond, Virginia and had big dreams of becoming a scientist. Her childhood hero was Rosalind Franklin. She earned degrees in Biology & Psychology from Florida State University. Eva started off her career as a research scientist in Molecular Biology & Neuroscience, then decided to leave STEM fields to take her career down a new path. She has spent over 10 years in Customer Experience and e-Commerce Operations. She is the former head of Customer Experience at ThinkGeek, where she met and befriended Jaya.
Eva teamed up with Jaya as an outlet to pass her passion and lifelong love of science on to a new generation. Her goal is to help create a different world that is full of options & free from gender stereotypes. Eva is the proud mother of 3 young boys who constantly inspire her with their creativity and imagination. She is a marathon runner and heavy coffee drinker.
