"I haven't received the dress yet, but I just have to say that the pattern should be called "Phonology", not "Phonetics", because the IPA symbols are in forward slashes (/a/) rather than square brackets ([a]). Phonology and Phonetics use the same symbols and use the difference in notation to distinguish meaning. In phonetics, we describe the actual sounds used in a language (and how they are articulated, etc), whereas in phonology, we look at the patterns in the way a language uses those sounds and look at which sounds make a meaningful difference (ie: /l/ and /r/ are distinguished in English but not in Japanese). Sorry, make dresses for nerds, you have to expect the nerds to show up :) Thank you for making a linguistics pattern."
