We had a blast interviewing the very fun Tech Influencer, Margo Romero! Margo is a Software Developer, Web Developer, and Instagram Tech Influencer. She has an outstanding Instagram page called @codecrumbs.  Here is our interview with Margo!

What is your favorite STEAM topic?

I am in love with every STEAM topic, but my passion is definitely Technology!

What do you do for a living & what do you do for fun?

I am a software developer, freelance web developer, and an Instagram tech influencer. I also teach young and underprivileged girls how to code once a week in an after-school program! For fun I like to work out, sing and play my acoustic guitar, paint, go shopping, do my makeup and have a photo shoot, go on adventures, eat delicious food and spend time with family and friends.

When did you discover that you loved to code?

I was eleven years old creating MySpace layouts for myself and my friends. I was up all hours of the night perfecting my designs using HTML and CSS. In college, I decided to major in Computer Programming because I was confident in my skills as a web developer. I truly feel that I found my passion in coding when I realized I absolutely love both front-end and back-end development.

What does your day to day look like?

I start my day off with an early workout to give myself energy for the day. I go to work from 9-5, usually get some errands done during my break. Then I channel my day in another workout and meditation right after work. When I get home, I spend some time on Instagram engaging with my friends and followers, do some freelance work and/or study new coding languages that I’m not using at work such as Android or JavaScript. I always end the evening with a delicious snack and preparing for the next day!

If there any advice you would give young girls and boys who would like to be in the technology industry one day?  Where did you start to get where you are today?

I always encourage creativity and innovation when I’m talking to young girls and boys about technology. I highlight the incredible benefits of being a part of technology and expand their minds in just how powerful tech can really be! I let them know that technology can be applied to anything and everything that they are interested in. I started at a young age just by doing what I love to do! If you’re interested in tech, keep going, keep learning and keep having fun!

How did you first find out about Svaha?

I began my journey as a tech influencer just last summer! I was looking up cute “dev apparel” and Svaha’s coding dresses were the first to catch my eye. I thought, “these dresses are the PERFECT way to promote coding.” Not only did people online rave about my dress but I got endless compliments at work and at tech meetups and fairs.

What is your favorite Svaha item that you own?
This is so hard because I absolutely love all my Svaha dresses! But my favorite would have to be my blue Javascript code dress!

What made you fall in love with our brand?

Not only are all the clothes and accessories absolutely adorable and genius, but the community that the brand brings together is remarkable. I fell in love with the fact that it’s beyond a new and innovative kind of wardrobe but also one that sends a message that promotes diversity and education in within STEAM.

What is the best compliment you've ever received when you were wearing Svaha?

I receive so many compliments when wearing Svaha that I can’t even remember. I did, however, wear my Java code dress to a New York Maker Faire event where I literally just got compliment after compliment! I felt like a true next-level coding princess!

What would you like to tell our other customers?

I would just like to say that besides Svaha having some awesome STEM inspired clothing and accessories, they also have some of the most genuine and amazing people on their team. The amount of love and support I receive from the Svaha team is beyond what I’ve ever seen from any company I’ve had the pleasure of working with. I truly love this brand.
