Svaha Diaries Part 2

Hope you enjoyed reading part one of this series.

So, many of you probably don't know this, but my first Kickstarter campaign was not successful. Once I knew that it was not going to be funded, I decided to cancel the campaign. I was rather disappointed about this. But, the day after the campaign was cancelled, I suddenly saw a surge in Svaha Facebook followers. I was not able to figure out what was happening. Then, I saw a few comments asking me to bring the clothing line back as they loved my t-shirts, as mentioned on Huffington Post. If only this article was published during my campaign.

However, encouraged by the outpour of love, I decided to give it another try. This time, I reached out to a few bloggers, and some more press people to cover the campaign extensively. All the homework done before the launch helped us have a successful Kickstarter this timethe Svaha USA clothing line was launched. An article in Bloomberg helped propel this clothing line further. The image below shows the second set of t-shirts that I had added to the new kickstarter campaign.

We finally placed our first order from our factory in India; the shipment arrived by air, and we drove to the airport to load our cars with the boxes. We used the basement of my house to organize all the t-shirts and to pack orders to ship out to all our Kickstarter backers.

We were so excited to see all the t-shirts, and really enjoyed the accomplishment; it was the fruits of our labor, and it was worth all the hard work. We had even ordered extra so we could immediately started selling them on our website. We would jump with joy every time our phones buzzed when a new order came in. Starting a business is like having a new baby: it is a lot of work, but also a lot of joy.

More coming soon.

Jaya
