Wyrm, meaning "serpent" in Old English, is the word often associated with legless, wingless dragons, though various renditions have emerged over the decades. Wyrms have been depicted in many fantasy and mythology texts ranging back to 11th century Norse sagas, and are most notably found within the popular poem Beowulf.
